Artwork & Design

What programs should I use to create artwork?

We recommend Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign to create high-quality/vector files at custom canvas sizes suitable for large-format printing.

Do you need bleed and crop marks?

No. Please supply your artwork at the final required size. We handle the final file preparations.

What DPI must my artwork be?

For best results, we recommend 300 DPI or higher.

What colour format does my artwork need to be?

We print in CMYK. Please supply files in CMYK format for accurate colour reproduction. We can convert RGB files, but please note colours may shift significantly.

Tip: For the richest black in print, use a mix of CMYK (75/68/67/90), not 100% Key (0/0/0/100).
Do you print Pantone colours?

We do not currently offer Pantone printing. Any Pantone references in supplied files will be converted to the closest CMYK match.

What file types can I upload?

We recommend: PDF (Press Ready, High Quality Print, or PDF/X), EPS, TIFF, or JPEG. For best results, create artwork at full print size with all fonts outlined and imagery embedded.

How do I send my files?

Use our upload artwork tool when placing your order. The preview may appear distorted for CMYK files or files without a background, but we will receive the original file correctly.

My file is very large. What should I do?

You can produce artwork at 50% scale to reduce file size, and we will upscale it (note: this may reduce quality). Alternatively, send large files via WeTransfer or Dropbox to info@printxpert.uk.

I don't have artwork. Can you design it for me?

Absolutely. Our in-house design team can help. Select a design package when ordering and provide a detailed brief. Proofs will be emailed for your approval before printing begins.

Finishing & Installation

What is a hemmed edge?

A hemmed edge adds 25mm of material around all sides, folded and sealed to the back. Recommended for outdoor banners, it increases strength, provides a double layer for eyelets, and does not affect the final banner size.

What is a clean cut edge?

The material is trimmed to size with no additional finishing. Recommended for indoor use only.

What are eyelets?

Small metal rings punched around the banner's edge (approx. 25mm in) for hanging. Keep important artwork 35mm from the edges to avoid obstruction. Custom placement is available if specified before print.

What are pole pockets?

We add and weld a loop of material to create a sleeve for a pole. Available in 50mm or 100mm (flat size), they can be placed at the top, bottom, both sides, or top and bottom. For scaffolding poles, 100mm is recommended.

How do I install self-adhesive vinyl?
  1. Prepare a smooth, clean, dry surface (slightly wet glass for repositioning).
  2. Use masking tape to position the vinyl.
  3. Slowly peel off the backing and apply the vinyl, smoothing it with a squeegee.
  4. Remove all air bubbles and allow 24 hours to adhere fully.
Note: These are guidelines. We are not liable for incorrect installation. For large/complex projects, use our professional installation service (guaranteed for 2 years).
How do I set up my roller banner?
  1. Remove the banner from its case.
  2. Twist out the feet from the base.
  3. Extend the pole to full height.
  4. Insert one end into the base until it clicks.
  5. Pull the graphic up from the base and clip it to the top of the pole.

To dismantle, reverse the process, allowing the graphic to roll slowly back into the base.
